报告摘要：Silicon nitride (Si3N4) is an interesting compound, with the covalently bonded elements and thus it is characterized by high hardness, strength and chemical stability. Single crystals of silicon nitride are not easy to fabricate in the dimensions suitable for the practical use thus the polycrystalline silicon nitride based ceramics of large variety of shapes and purposes of application are produced. The variety of properties of silicon nitride ceramics reflects large spectra different possible applications. When in eighties of the last century was silicon nitride investigated as a material for engineering applications, today is also used a phosphor enabling to transfer the monochromatic light of the LED to the visible light and more and more as an bio-active material for implants in the human body. In the present paper the different methods of the structure manipulation will be presented with respect to the final use in the real praxis.
